The Emily Thomas Memorial Endowment was established by Marianne Steentsma, Australia April 28, 1997. The first scholarship was awarded in 2002.
Emily Thomas, from Proserpine in North Queensland, was a long-standing member of the local chapter Alpha Epsilon. Emily was a very active member not only on the chapter level, but also on the district and state level. She was State President three times: 1970-71, 1977-78 and 1978-79.
Emily was a gardener and a hard worker, raising money for ESA and the community. She had a fantastic skill with needle and thread. She won many trophies and awards within ESA and in the community.

ESA International offers many scholarships and grants each year for students to enable them to further their studies after leaving secondary school.
Through the ESA Foundation, numerous scholarships are offered annually. Applications are open between October and February each year, with winners being announced in mid-June.
The 2017-2018 school year scholarship application process has closed.
2018-2019 will open in October
ESA International requires a Minimum of 3.0 GPA. This grading requirement is not relevant to Australian students.
Australian residents may apply for up to three of these scholarships, however, the Emily Thomas Memorial Scholarship, sponsored by ESA Queensland, is available for Australian residents only and is valued at $1000 USD to contribute towards tuition, fees and books.
